!!! Lesen Sie den Artikel über m-pad in der "Notebook, Organizer und Handy" !!!

Funktion
m-pad ist eine Anwendung für WAP-Handies. Damit können Sie auf Ihrem Handy mehrere Notizen, Termine, Kontakte, ToDos und Geldausgaben erfassen und sie dann alle auf einmal als Email an sich selbst versenden. Aus der Email können Sie diese dann z.B. in MS Outlook oder Lotus Notes übernehmen.
Zum Erfassen der Notizen etc. müssen Sie nicht online sein. Es genügt, wenn Sie die Startseite laden und dann auflegen. Mit etwas Glück sind die Seiten sogar noch im Cash Ihres Handies. Nun können Sie mehrere Notizen anlegen. Wie viele, hängt vom Speicher Ihres Handies ab. Wenn Sie fertig sind, wählen Sie den Menüpunkt "Puffer senden" und die Daten werden als Mail versendet.
Manche WAP-Handies (z.B. Motorola Timeport) haben eine eingeschränkte WAP-Funktionalität. Auf diesen ist das Sammeln mehrerer Notizen nicht möglich. Stattdessen wird jede Notiz nach dem Erfassen sofort versendet.

Demo
Leider sind mir inzwischen keine Online-WAP-Emulatoren mehr bekannt, auf denen M-Pad läuft.

Aufruf und Konfiguration
Sie können m-pad starten, in dem Sie auf Ihrem WAP-Handy die URL "http://klemid.de/mpad" eingeben. Dann müssen Sie allerdings Ihre Email-Adresse auf dem Handy über die Tasten eingeben. Wenn Sie das vermeiden wollen, legen Sie den Link "http://klemid.de/mpad/mpad.asp?id=xxx@yyy.zzz" auf Ihrem Handy als Bookmark oder auf Ihrer WAP-Homepage ab. "xxx@yyy.zzz" ist dabei Ihre Email-Adresse. Für weitere Hinweise siehe unsere FAQs.

Handies
Die Anwendung wurde auf folgenden Geräten und Emulatoren getestet:
Nokia 6210, 7110, 9210, Toolkit 2.0, Toolkit 2.1; Siemens S35i; Sony CMD-Z5; Benefon Q; Ericsson R380s; Samsung SGH-Q100 (GPRS); Phone.com Toolkit; WAPJAG 5.01; Gelon Wapalizer 1.2; Cellmania Emulator.
Vermutlich ist die Anwendung ebenfalls auf sämtlichen Siemens WAP-Handies und auf Ericsson WAP-Handies lauffähig.
Für alle anderen WAP-Handies läuft die Anwendung in einer leicht unterschiedlichen Version ohne Benutzung von WMLScript. Damit ist es leider nicht möglich, mehrere Notizen zu sammeln und dann alle gemeinsam zu versenden. Stattdessen wird jede Notiz sofort nach dem Erfassen verschickt. Falls Sie ein Handy besitzen, von dem Sie meinen, dass es WMLScript kann, lassen Sie mich es wissen. 

Sicherheit
m-pad ist sehr einfach zu handhaben. Sie brauchen keinen Login. Die Email-Adresse wird über die URL festgelegt, die Sie eingeben. Diese Bequemlichkeit beinhaltet leider auch den kleinen Nachteil, dass jeder andere auch mit m-pad seine Nachrichten an Sie schicken könnte. M.a.W. es ist nicht garantiert, dass die Email auch von Ihnen erzeugt wurde. Außerdem ist Email an sich kein sehr sicheres Medium. D.h. es ist für einen Hacker nicht sehr schwer, Ihre Nachricht abzufangen. Das gilt aber genauso für Ihren sonstigen Email-Verkehr.
Als der Betreiber des Dienstes behalten wir uns vor, Daten zu statistischen Zwecken zu speichern. Dies werden aber keinesfalls die von Ihnen erfassten Notizen selbst sein.

Weitere Aussichten
In Kürze werde ich eine Erweiterung für MS Outlook 2000 anbieten, die es erlaubt, aus mit m-pad erzeugten Nachrichten halbautomatisch Kontakte, Termine, Aufgaben und Notizen zu erzeugen.

Functionality
m-pad is an application for WAP-enabled handsets. You can easily enter several memos, appointments, contacts, todo's, expenses in one session and send these as email to your own address. From your mail client on your desktop PC you can transfer them for example in your MS Outlook, Lotus Notes or whatever you use as your PIM. .
While entering the data you need not to be online. After successful load of the menu you can hang up and start entering the data. If the app is still in the cash, the handset will not even go online for loading the app.  How many notes the buffer can hold depends on the device you are using. When you finished entering, choose "Send Buffer" and the mail is fired off by the server part of the application.
Some WAP handsets like e.g. Motorola Timeport have a limited WAP functionality. Collecting several notes is not possible on these devices. The application takes this into account and fires of the email after each note.

Demo
Unfortunately many WAP emulators have disappeared from the Web and no one of the remaining emulators is capable of running M-Pad correctly.

Invocation and configuration
You start m-pad by navigating to http://klemid.de/mpad. As a first step you have to enter your email address. If you don't like to repeat this each time, enter "http://klemid.de/mpad/mpad.asp?to=xxx@yyy.zzz" as bookmark on your handset or as link on your WAP homepage. "xxx@yyy.zzz" is your own email address.

Supported handsets
The application has been tested on:

Most likely the app also runs on all the other Siemens WAP-enabled handsets, on Ericsson and Nokia handsets.
If your handset doesn't provide full WAP 1.1 support, especially if it doesn't support WMLScripts, collecting notes in the buffer is not possible.

Security and Safety
m-pad is very simple to use. You don't need to type in user/password as is the case with comparable applications. The email address you are sending to is determined via the URL. The tradeoff here is that somebody else can easily use your email and send you his notes. 
Additionally you surely know that email is not very safe and secure. It is not a big deal for a hacker to catch your email. But this applies not only for emails created by m-pad.
Please note that the provider of this service may store date for statistical purposes. This does in no case apply to the content of the notes.

Outlook
Asap we'll provide an extension for MS Outlook 2000 which allows to automatically create Outlook appointments, contacts, tasks,  and notes from the mail created by m-pad.
