Functions

In contrast to most note taking apps this simple but effective app is a combination of note capturing and resubmission. The principle is to write an e-mail to yourself but to do this very conveniently. Most note taking apps like Evernote are very sophisticated apps for capturing, storing and searching the notes but the reminder part is missing or not implemented appropriately.

I use a Samsung smartphone with Windows Mobile 6.5 and built this app mainly for my own personal use. Therefore the app is optimized for this kind of phone. Not sure if it works properly with other Windows Mobile-based phones. Please try.

Prerequisites

The app runs well on my Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 smartphone with Windows Mobile 6.5 and .NET Compact Framework 3.5. The latter can be installed from this Microsoft page. Most likely it runs on most other smartphones with the same OS version as well but I haven't tried it. Please share your experience with me.

As the overall principle is to sent the captured note as an e-mail you need to actually trigger the sending of e-mails from time to time either by synchronizing your device via ActiveSync or by sending e-mail over the air. When you use ActiveSync make sure the the e-mail synchronization is enabled in you ActiveSync settings.

Installation

Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using this software. Use of this software indicates you accept these terms.

As a prerequisite install the .NET Compact Framework version 3.5 from this Microsoft page.
Download the installation cab file to your local PC and install it via ActiveSync or navigate to http://www.klemid.de/files/knote.cab with your phone's browser to download and install it.

Usage

After installation you should go to the Options page and choose the e-mail addresses to which you want to send the captured notes to. You can specify multiple e-mail addresses separated by semicolon. In addition choose the e-mail account to be used for delivery from the dropdown list. The list offers the e-mail accounts  you have configured on your phone. Typically this is ActiveSync and/or something like Gmail.

In order to take notes simply type something into the Text or Numeric input fields, or choose a Date using the picker. The fist line of the Text input field is taken as the subject of the e-mail being sent. In the Media dropdown you can also choose to capture a picture or video in addition.  This directly opens the camera app. In the Send To drop down choose one of the configured e-mail addresses.

Note that you can also send the note to your Facebook account by choosing the appropriate e-mail address.

After capturing the note is stored in the outbox of the e-mail client on your device. The e-mail is sent out when you perform send/receive the next time for the configured delivery method.

Donate

If you like the app it would be great it you donate one or two bucks via Paypal.
